Suryaputra Karna

The book Suryaputra Karna by Banasmita Pati is an adaptation or retelling of the life story of Karna, one of the central figures and great tragic heroes of the Hindu epic, the Mahabharata.Based on the title, it focuses on the life of Karna, the “Son of Surya” (Sun God) and the half-brother of the Pandavas, who was abandoned at birth and raised by a charioteer’s family. The narrative typically covers his struggles with identity, his exceptional skill as a warrior, his curse from his guru Parashurama, his unwavering friendship with Duryodhana, and his ultimate fate during the Kurukshetra War.The book is also indicated to be an Odia language work or based on the classic Hindi poem Rashmirathi by Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’, suggesting it draws heavily on the themes of destiny, social injustice, and heroic honor associated with Karna’s life.
ବନସ୍ମିତା ପତିଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟପୁତ୍ର କର୍ଣ୍ଣ ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ହିନ୍ଦୁ ମହାକାବ୍ୟ, ମହାଭାରତର ଅନ୍ୟତମ ମୁଖ୍ୟ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ ଏବଂ ମହାନ ଦୁଃଖଦ ନାୟକ କର୍ଣ୍ଣଙ୍କ ଜୀବନ କାହାଣୀର ଏକ ରୂପାନ୍ତର କିମ୍ବା ପୁନରାବୃତ୍ତି। ଶୀର୍ଷକ ଉପରେ ଆଧାରିତ, ଏହା କର୍ଣ୍ଣଙ୍କ ଜୀବନ ଉପରେ କେନ୍ଦ୍ରିତ, “ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର” (ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଦେବତା) ଏବଂ ପାଣ୍ଡବମାନଙ୍କ ସାବତ ଭାଇ, ଯିଏ ଜନ୍ମ ସମୟରେ ପରିତ୍ୟକ୍ତ ହୋଇ ଜଣେ ସାରଥି ପରିବାର ଦ୍ୱାରା ପାଳିତ ହୋଇଥିଲେ। ଏହି ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା ସାଧାରଣତଃ ତାଙ୍କର ପରିଚୟ ସହିତ ସଂଘର୍ଷ, ଜଣେ ଯୋଦ୍ଧା ଭାବରେ ତାଙ୍କର ଅସାଧାରଣ ଦକ୍ଷତା, ତାଙ୍କ ଗୁରୁ ପରଶୁରାମଙ୍କ ଅଭିଶାପ, ଦୁର୍ଯୋଧନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ତାଙ୍କର ଅଟଳ ବନ୍ଧୁତା ଏବଂ କୁରୁକ୍ଷେତ୍ର ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ସମୟରେ ତାଙ୍କର ଚରମ ଭାଗ୍ୟକୁ ଆଚ୍ଛାଦିତ କରିଥାଏ।
ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ଏକ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷା କୃତି କିମ୍ବା ରାମଧାରୀ ସିଂହ ‘ଦିନକର’ଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରୀୟ ହିନ୍ଦୀ କବିତା ରଶ୍ମିରଥି ଉପରେ ଆଧାରିତ ବୋଲି ମଧ୍ୟ ସୂଚିତ ହୋଇଛି, ଯାହା ସୂଚାଇ ଦିଏ ଯେ ଏହା କର୍ଣ୍ଣଙ୍କ ଜୀବନ ସହିତ ଜଡିତ ଭାଗ୍ୟ, ସାମାଜିକ ଅନ୍ୟାୟ ଏବଂ ବୀରତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସମ୍ମାନର ବିଷୟବସ୍ତୁ ଉପରେ ବହୁଳ ଭାବରେ ଆକର୍ଷିତ ହୋଇଛି।
