Andha-Diganta

“ଅନ୍ଧ-ଦିଗନ୍ତ” (ଡାର୍କ ହରାଇଜନ) ହେଉଛି ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟିକ ସୁରେନ୍ଦ୍ର ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ଏକ ରାଜନୈତିକ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ। ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ୧୯୨୧ ରୁ ୧୯୫୨ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଭାରତୀୟ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ସଂଗ୍ରାମର ପୃଷ୍ଠଭୂମିରେ ଅବସ୍ଥିତ।ଏହି ଉପନ୍ୟାସଟି ଭାରତୀୟ ଜାତୀୟ ଆନ୍ଦୋଳନର ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ, ବିଡ଼ମ୍ବନା, ଆଶା ଏବଂ ନିରାଶାକୁ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରେ। ଏହା ଏହି ସମୟ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଦେଖାଯାଇଥିବା ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଆଦର୍ଶଗତ ଏବଂ ମାନବୀୟ ଜଟିଳତାକୁ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରେ। ଐତିହାସିକ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ ଉପରେ ଧ୍ୟାନ ଦେବା ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତେ, ଏହି ଉପନ୍ୟାସଟି ଆନ୍ଦୋଳନ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପଦ୍ଧତି ଏବଂ ସଂଘର୍ଷର ପ୍ରତୀକ ଭାବରେ କାଳ୍ପନିକ ଚରିତ୍ରଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରେ। ଏହି ଚରିତ୍ରଗୁଡ଼ିକର କାଳ୍ପନିକ ଜୀବନ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ, ମହାନ୍ତି କିଛି ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଆଦର୍ଶବାଦୀ ଉତ୍ସାହ, ଅନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କ୍ଷମତା ପାଇଁ ନଗ୍ନ ଲାଳସା ଏବଂ ଏକ ବିପ୍ଳବ ସହିତ ଆସିପାରୁଥିବା ନିରର୍ଥକତା ଏବଂ ବିଦ୍ରୋହକୁ ପରୀକ୍ଷା କରନ୍ତି। ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ଶେଷରେ ଆଲୋକପାତ କରେ ଯେ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିମାନେ ଆସିପାରନ୍ତି ଏବଂ ଯାଇପାରନ୍ତି, ମୁକ୍ତି ପାଇଁ ସଂଘର୍ଷ ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ହୁଏ, ସମୟ ସହିତ ନୂତନ ରୂପ ଏବଂ ମୂଲ୍ୟବୋଧ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରେ। ଏହା ସୂଚାଇ ଦିଏ ଯେ “ଡାର୍କ ହରାଇଜନ” ଏକ ମୁକ୍ତ ଜାତିର ନୂତନ ପ୍ରଭାତ ପୂର୍ବରୁ କେବଳ ଏକ ଅସ୍ଥାୟୀ ବିରାମ।
“Andha-Diganta” (The Dark Horizon) is a political novel written by the renowned Odia litterateur, Surendra Mohanty. The book is set against the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle, spanning the period from 1921 to 1952.The novel explores the dreams, ironies, hopes, and despairs of the Indian National Movement. It delves into the various ideological and human complexities that emerged during this time. Rather than focusing on historical figures, the novel uses fictional characters to symbolize the different approaches and struggles within the movement.Through the fictional lives of these characters, Mohanty examines the idealistic zeal of some, the naked lust for power in others, and the futility and irony that can accompany a revolution. The book ultimately highlights that while individuals may come and go, the liberation struggle endures, taking on new forms and values over time. It suggests that the “dark horizon” is merely a temporary pause before the new dawn of a free nation.
