The narrative cleverly spans centuries, oscillating between 13th-century Odisha during the temple’s construction and a more contemporary setting.The story follows Charles, a modern-day foreign researcher, who, while studying the Konark region, uncovers ancient palm leaf manuscripts. These discoveries, combined with local tales, lead him to experience strange phenomena, particularly being haunted by a woman’s statue. He is then transported back in time to the era of the temple’s creation, where two profound love stories unfold amidst the historical backdrop.
Beyond the captivating romances, “Shilapadma” delves into the dedication and sacrifices of the 1200 artisans who labored for years to build the Konark temple, often leaving behind their families.
