ସୁରେନ୍ଦ୍ର ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ “ଶତାବ୍ଦୀର ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ” (ଯାହାର ଅର୍ଥ “ଶତାବ୍ଦୀର ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ”) ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟରେ ଏକ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଜୀବନୀ କୃତି। ୧୯୭୦ ମସିହାରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ, ଏହା ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଇତିହାସର ଜଣେ ପ୍ରମୁଖ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ ଉତ୍କଳ ଗୌରବ ମଧୁସୂଦନ ଦାସଙ୍କ ଏକ ବିସ୍ତୃତ ଜୀବନୀ।ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକରେ ମଧୁସୂଦନ ଦାସଙ୍କ ଜୀବନୀ ଏବଂ ଅବଦାନ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା କରାଯାଇଛି, ଯିଏ ଜଣେ ଓକିଲ, ସମାଜ ସଂସ୍କାରକ ଏବଂ ଆଧୁନିକ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଜଣେ ପ୍ରମୁଖ ସ୍ଥପତି ଥିଲେ। ସେ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷା ଆନ୍ଦୋଳନ ଏବଂ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଏକ ସ୍ୱତନ୍ତ୍ର ଭାଷାଗତ ରାଜ୍ୟ ପାଇଁ ସଂଘର୍ଷରେ ଏକ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଭୂମିକା ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିଲେ। ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଦାସଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଗତ ଯାତ୍ରା, ତାଙ୍କର ବୌଦ୍ଧିକ ସାଧନା, ଓଡ଼ିଆ ପରିଚୟ ପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କର ଲଢ଼େଇ ଏବଂ ବ୍ରିଟିଶ ରାଜତ୍ୱ ସମୟରେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରଶାସନିକ ବିଭାଗ ଅଧୀନରେ ବିଚ୍ଛିନ୍ନ ହୋଇଥିବା ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷାଭାଷୀ ଅଞ୍ଚଳଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ଏକତ୍ର କରିବା ପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରୟାସ ଉପରେ ଆଲୋକପାତ କରେ।”ଶତାବ୍ଦୀର ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ” ଏହାର ବ୍ୟାପକ ଗବେଷଣା ଏବଂ ମଧୁସୂଦନ ଦାସଙ୍କ ସମୟରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଐତିହାସିକ ଏବଂ ସାମାଜିକ-ରାଜନୈତିକ ଦୃଶ୍ୟପଟର ଚିତ୍ରଣ ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରଶଂସିତ। ଏହା ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସମ୍ମୁଖୀନ ହେଉଥିବା ଭାଷାଗତ, ଶିକ୍ଷାଗତ ଏବଂ ରାଜନୈତିକ ଚ୍ୟାଲେଞ୍ଜ ଏବଂ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ଦାସଙ୍କ ଅଟଳ ସମର୍ପଣ ବିଷୟରେ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ପ୍ରଦାନ କରେ। ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକକୁ ଆଧୁନିକ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଗଠନ ଏବଂ ଏହାର ଜଣେ ସର୍ବୋତ୍ତମ ପୂଜ୍ୟ ନେତାଙ୍କ ଜୀବନୀକୁ ବୁଝିବା ପାଇଁ ଏକ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଉତ୍ସ ଭାବରେ ବିବେଚନା କରାଯାଏ।
