Lachhama

“ଲଛମା” ହେଉଛି ଆଧୁନିକ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ଜଣେ ଉଚ୍ଚମାନର ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ ଫକୀର ମୋହନ ସେନାପତିଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ଏକ ଐତିହାସିକ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ। ତାଙ୍କର ଅନ୍ୟ ଉପନ୍ୟାସଗୁଡ଼ିକ, ଯାହା ସେମାନଙ୍କର ସାମାଜିକ ବାସ୍ତବବାଦ ପାଇଁ ଜଣାଶୁଣା, ଭିନ୍ନ “ଲଛମା” ହେଉଛି ରାଜପୁତ ବୀର କିମ୍ବଦନ୍ତୀ ଶୈଳୀରେ ଲିଖିତ ଏକ ଐତିହାସିକ ପ୍ରେମର କୃତି। ୧୮ଶ ଶତାବ୍ଦୀର ମରାଠାଙ୍କ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଆକ୍ରମଣର ପୃଷ୍ଠଭୂମିରେ ସ୍ଥାପନ କରାଯାଇଥିବା ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ଲଛମା ନାମକ ଜଣେ ସାହସୀ ରାଜପୁତ ମହିଳା ଏବଂ ତାଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାମୀ ବାଦଲ ସିଂହଙ୍କ କାହାଣୀ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା କରେ। ଏହି ଉପନ୍ୟାସ ପ୍ରେମ, ସମ୍ମାନ ଏବଂ ସାହସର ବିଷୟବସ୍ତୁକୁ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରେ ଏବଂ ସେନାପତିଙ୍କ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଜାତୀୟତାବାଦ ଏବଂ ମହିଳା ମୁକ୍ତି ସହିତ ଜଡିତତାକୁ ପ୍ରତିଫଳିତ କରେ।
“Lachhama” is a historical novel by Fakir Mohan Senapati, a towering figure in modern Odia literature. Unlike his other novels, which are known for their social realism, “Lachhama” is a work of historical romance written in the style of Rajput heroic legends. Set against the backdrop of the 18th-century Maratha invasion of Odisha, the book tells the story of Lachhama, a courageous Rajput woman, and her husband Badal Singh. The novel explores themes of love, honor, and courage, and reflects Senapati’s engagement with Odia nationalism and the emancipation of women.
