Karanjia Dairy is a collection of short stories by the prominent Odia writer Santanu Kumar Acharya. Published in 1984, the book is based on the author’s real-life experiences and observations while he was in Karanjia, a sub-division of the Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.
The book is notable for its exploration of the life and philosophy of the tribal people in the region. Through his stories, Acharya critically examines how government schemes were being misused and how corrupt politicians and officials were exploiting the innocent tribal population. The book, which was originally a column in the daily newspaper Dharitree, became highly popular for its insights and observations.
“କରଞ୍ଜିଆ ଡାଏରୀ” ସାନ୍ତନୁ କୁମାର ଆଚାର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ, ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ମୟୂରଭଞ୍ଜ ଜିଲ୍ଲାର ଏକ ଉପଖଣ୍ଡ କରଞ୍ଜିଆରେ କଲେଜ ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଭାବରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବା ସମୟରେ ଲେଖକଙ୍କ ବାସ୍ତବ ଜୀବନର ଅଭିଜ୍ଞତା ଏବଂ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟବେକ୍ଷଣ ଉପରେ ଆଧାରିତ ଏକ କାହାଣୀ ସଂଗ୍ରହ। ୧୯୮୪ ମସିହାରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ଏହି ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ଆଦିବାସୀ ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟର ଜୀବନ ଏବଂ ସଂସ୍କୃତିକୁ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରେ। ଆଚାର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ଲେଖା ସେମାନଙ୍କର ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦୋଷତା ଏବଂ ରାଜନେତା ଏବଂ ସରକାରୀ ଅଧିକାରୀଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସେମାନେ ସମ୍ମୁଖୀନ ହେଉଥିବା ଶୋଷଣ ଉପରେ ଆଲୋକପାତ କରେ। ଏହି କୃତିଟି ଏହାର ଅନ୍ତର୍ଦୃଷ୍ଟିପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସାମାଜିକ ମନ୍ତବ୍ୟ ପାଇଁ ଜଣାଶୁଣା ଏବଂ ମୂଳତଃ ଦୈନିକ ଖବରକାଗଜ “ଧରିତ୍ରୀ”ରେ ଏକ ଲୋକପ୍ରିୟ ସ୍ତମ୍ଭ ଭାବରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା।
