“କାନାମାମୁ” (“ଏକ ଆଖି ଚାଚା” ପାଇଁ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷା) ହେଉଛି କାନ୍ତକବି ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀକାନ୍ତ ମହାପାତ୍ରଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ଏକ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଲୋକପ୍ରିୟ ଏବଂ ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ। ୧୯୫୧ ରୁ ୧୯୫୨ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଧାରାବାହିକ ଭାବରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ, ଏହା ପ୍ରଥମ ଆବିର୍ଭାବ ପରଠାରୁ ନିରନ୍ତର ମୁଦ୍ରିତ ହୋଇ ରହିଛି।

“Kanamamu” (Odia for “One-Eyed Uncle”) is a highly popular and enduring novel by Kantakabi Laxmikant Mohapatra. Serialized between 1951 and 1952, it has remained continuously in print since its first appearance.
The book revolves around the titular character, Kanamamu, who is portrayed as a multifaceted figure: a comic revolutionary, a clever opponent of the British administration, a good samaritan, a braggart, and a bit of a buffoon. Despite his seemingly foolish or innocent outward appearance, he possesses a good heart and wisdom.
A significant feature of the novel is Mohapatra’s vivid and celebrated depiction of Odia village life, complete with its unique social and religious customs, prevalent superstitions, and the intricate web of friendships and feuds that define rural communities. The narrative is known for its tremendous verve and is considered a landmark work in Odia fiction.
