Kalantara (The Changeover) is a novel by the renowned Odia author Surendra Mohanty. The book is set against the backdrop of a devastating cyclone that struck Odisha in 1971.
Mohanty uses this natural calamity as a powerful symbol for a “cosmic cataclysm” that brings about a metamorphosis in the lives of the villagers in the fictional village of Muktapur.
