ମୃଣାଳିନୀ ପାଢୀଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ “ଫକୀର ବାବୁ” ଏକ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ ଯାହା ଫକୀର ନାମକ ଜଣେ ଗରିବ, ପିତୃହୀନ ବାଳକର ହୃଦୟସ୍ପର୍ଶୀ ଏବଂ ହାସ୍ୟରସପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କାହାଣୀ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା କରେ। ତାଙ୍କର ସାଧାରଣ ଆରମ୍ଭ ସତ୍ତ୍ୱେ, ଫକୀର ତାଙ୍କ ପଡ଼ୋଶୀର ଜଣେ ଦୟାଳୁ ବଙ୍ଗାଳୀ ଡାକ୍ତରଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଅନୁପ୍ରାଣିତ ହୋଇ ବଡ଼ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦେଖନ୍ତି।ଏହି କାହାଣୀ ଫକୀରଙ୍କ ଯାତ୍ରାକୁ ଅନୁସରଣ କରେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ସେ କେବଳ ଯୋଗ୍ୟତା ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଦାରିଦ୍ର୍ୟକୁ ଦୂର କରନ୍ତି, କଟକର ରେଭେନସା କଲେଜ ଏବଂ ଏସସିବି ମେଡିକାଲ କଲେଜ ଭଳି ପ୍ରତିଷ୍ଠିତ ପ୍ରତିଷ୍ଠାନରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ ପାଆନ୍ତି। ଲେଖକ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପରିସ୍ଥିତିରେ ଫକୀରଙ୍କ ମାନସିକତା ଏବଂ ଅଭ୍ୟାସଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ଦକ୍ଷତାର ସହିତ ଚିତ୍ରଣ କରିଛନ୍ତି, ପ୍ରାୟତଃ ଏକ ହାଲୁକା ସ୍ପର୍ଶ ସହିତ ଯାହା ଆନନ୍ଦ ଏବଂ ହସ ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିଥାଏ, ଯାହା ଏକ ଦୁଃଖଦ କାହାଣୀ ହୋଇପାରେ ତାହାକୁ ଏକ ମଜାଦାର କାହାଣୀରେ ପରିଣତ କରିଥାଏ।ଯେତେବେଳେ ଫକୀର ଜୀବନରେ ଅଗ୍ରଗତି କରନ୍ତି ଏବଂ ଧନ ଏବଂ ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରନ୍ତି, ତାଙ୍କର ପୃଷ୍ଠଭୂମି ଏବଂ ଏକ ବିଫଳ ପ୍ରେମକୁ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ରଖି ଏପରି କରିବାର ତାଙ୍କର ଇଚ୍ଛା ଅର୍ଥପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହୁଏ। ତଥାପି, ତାଙ୍କ ଚରିତ୍ରର ପ୍ରକୃତ ଗଭୀରତା ଶେଷ ଅଧ୍ୟାୟରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହୁଏ, ଯେଉଁଠାରେ “ବିଶ୍ୱାସର ଏକ ଲମ୍ଫ” ଉପନ୍ୟାସକୁ ହାଲୁକା ହୃଦୟର ପାଠ୍ୟରୁ ମାନବବାଦର ଗଭୀର ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନରେ ପରିଣତ କରେ। ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ଜଣେ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଔପନ୍ୟାସିକ ଭାବରେ ମୃଣାଳିନୀ ପାଢୀଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିଶ୍ରୁତିକୁ ପ୍ରଦର୍ଶନ କରେ।
