“ଧରିତ୍ରିର କାଣ୍ଡ” (ରୋହିଥିବା ପୃଥିବୀ) ହେଉଛି ପ୍ରଶଂସିତ ଲେଖକ ସାନ୍ତନୁ କୁମାର ଆଚାର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ଏକ ଜଣାଶୁଣା ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ। ୧୯୯୪ ମସିହାରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ, ଏହାକୁ ଐତିହାସିକ ବାସ୍ତବତା ଉପରେ ଆଧାରିତ ସାମାଜିକ-ରାଜନୈତିକ ପରିମାପ ସହିତ ଏକ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ ଭାବରେ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା କରାଯାଇଛି, ବିଶେଷକରି ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ପରେ ଭାରତରେ ଉଚ୍ଚଶିକ୍ଷାର ଅବନତିର କାରଣଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ବିଶ୍ଳେଷଣ କରାଯାଇଛି।ଏହି କାହାଣୀଟି ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଏକ ଛୋଟ ଗାଁର ପୃଷ୍ଠଭୂମିରେ ମାନବ ସମ୍ପର୍କ ଏବଂ ଭାବନାର ଜଟିଳତାକୁ ଖୋଳତାଡ଼ କରେ। ଏହା ଦୁଇଟି ପରିବାର, ପଟ୍ଟନାୟକ ଏବଂ ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଚାରିପାଖରେ ଘୂରି ବୁଲିଛି ଏବଂ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଜୀବନ କିପରି ପରସ୍ପର ସହିତ ଜଡିତ ହୁଏ ଏବଂ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପାର୍ଥକ୍ୟ କିପରି ଅପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଶିତ ପରିଣାମ ଆଡ଼କୁ ନେଇଯାଏ ତାହା ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରେ। ପିତୃପୁରୁଷମାନେ ଏକ ଦୃଢ଼ ବନ୍ଧନ ବାଣ୍ଟୁଥିବା ବେଳେ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପିଲାମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସମ୍ପର୍କ ସେତେ ଦୃଢ଼ ନୁହେଁ, ଯାହା ନାଟକୀୟ ବିକାଶ ଆଡ଼କୁ ନେଇଯାଏ।ସାନ୍ତନୁ କୁମାର ଆଚାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଜଣେ ପ୍ରମୁଖ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଲେଖକ, ତାଙ୍କ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ, ଛୋଟ ଗଳ୍ପ ଏବଂ ଶିଶୁ ପୁସ୍ତକ ପାଇଁ ଜଣାଶୁଣା। ସେ ସାହିତ୍ୟ ଏକାଡେମୀ ପୁରସ୍କାର ସମେତ ଅନେକ ପୁରସ୍କାର ପାଇଛନ୍ତି।
“Dharitrira Kanda” (The Weeping Earth) is a well-known Odia novel by the acclaimed writer Santanu Kumar Acharya. Published in 1994, it is described as a novel with socio-political dimensions based on historical realities, specifically analyzing the causes of the decadence of higher education in India after Independence.
The story delves into the complexities of human relationships and emotions, set against the backdrop of a small village in Odisha. It revolves around two families, the Patnaiks and the Mohantys, and explores how their lives intertwine and how their differences lead to unexpected consequences. While the patriarchs share a strong bond, the relationship between their children is not as strong, leading to dramatic developments.
Santanu Kumar Acharya is a prominent Odia writer, known for his novels, short stories, and children’s books. He has received numerous awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award.
