“ଅଶାନ୍ତ ଆରଣ୍ୟ” (ଅସ୍ଥିର ଜଙ୍ଗଲ) ହେଉଛି ସତକାଡି ହୋତାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ଏକ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ, ଯାହା ୧୯୮୭ ମସିହାରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ସାହିତ୍ୟ ଏକାଡେମୀ ପୁରସ୍କାର ଜିତିଥିଲା। ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ଉତ୍ତର ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଆଦିବାସୀ ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟର ଜୀବନକୁ ଖୋଳତାଡ଼ କରେ, ସେମାନେ ସମ୍ମୁଖୀନ ହେଉଥିବା ସାମାଜିକ ଏବଂ ସାଂସ୍କୃତିକ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରେ। ଏହା ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଆଶା, ସଂଘର୍ଷ ଏବଂ ଦୁଃଖକୁ ଚିତ୍ରଣ କରେ, ଏହି ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟଗୁଡ଼ିକର ସମସାମୟିକ ଜୀବନର ଜଟିଳତା ଉପରେ ଏକ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ଏବଂ ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିକୋଣ ପ୍ରଦାନ କରେ। ଏହି ଉପନ୍ୟାସକୁ ପରେ ୧୯୯୩ ମସିହାରେ ନିର୍ମିତ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଚଳଚ୍ଚିତ୍ର “ଅରଣ୍ୟ ରୋଦନ” (ଜଙ୍ଗଲରେ କାନ୍ଦଣା)ରେ ରୂପାନ୍ତରିତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା, ଯାହା ଜଣେ ଆଦିବାସୀ ମହିଳାଙ୍କ ଶୋଷଣ ଉପରେ ଜଣେ ସାମ୍ବାଦିକଙ୍କ ତଦନ୍ତର କାହାଣୀକୁ ବ୍ୟାପକ ଦର୍ଶକଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପହଞ୍ଚାଇଥିଲା।.
“Ashanta Aranya” (The Restless Forest) is a renowned Odia novel by Satakadi Hota that won the Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award in 1987. The book delves into the lives of tribal communities in northern Odisha, exploring the social and cultural changes they face. It portrays their hopes, struggles, and sorrows, offering a vivid and intelligent look at the complexities of contemporary life for these communities. The novel was later adapted into the 1993 Odia film “Aranya Rodan” (Cry in the Wilderness), which further brought the story of a journalist’s investigation into the exploitation of a tribal woman to a wider audience.
