“ଅସାମୀ ହାଜିର” (ଅର୍ଥ “ଅଭିଯୁକ୍ତ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ” କିମ୍ବା “ତୁମର ସେବାରେ”) ବିମଲ ମିତ୍ରଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ଏକ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ବଙ୍ଗଳା ଉପନ୍ୟାସ, ଯାହା ପ୍ରଥମେ ୧୯୭୩ ମସିହାରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ଏହି ଉପନ୍ୟାସ ଗ୍ରାମୀଣ ବଙ୍ଗର ସାମାଜିକ ବାସ୍ତବତାରେ ଗଭୀର ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ ପାଇଁ ଜଣାଶୁଣା ଏବଂ ସାମାଜିକ ଶୋଷଣ, ନିର୍ଯାତନା ଏବଂ ବଂଶାନୁକ୍ରମିକ ପାପର ଜଟିଳ ବୋଝର ବିଷୟବସ୍ତୁ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରେ।ଗଳ୍ପର ମୂଳ ଏକ ଯୁବକଙ୍କ ଚାରିପାଖରେ ଘୂରି ବୁଲୁଛି ଯିଏ ତାଙ୍କ ଜମିଦାର (ଜମିଦାର) ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା କରାଯାଇଥିବା ଦୁଷ୍କର୍ମ ଏବଂ ପାପର ପ୍ରାୟଶ୍ଚିତ୍ତ କରିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରେ। ଏହା ଏହି ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟରେ ସେ କରୁଥିବା ବଳିଦାନ ବିଷୟରେ ଖୋଳତାଡ଼ କରେ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଅତୀତ ଏବଂ ମୁକ୍ତି ପାଇଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଇଚ୍ଛା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଫସି ରହିଥିବା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିମାନେ ସମ୍ମୁଖୀନ ହେଉଥିବା ନୈତିକ ଏବଂ ସାମାଜିକ ଦ୍ୱନ୍ଦ୍ୱକୁ ଉଜାଗର କରେ।”ଅସାମୀ ହାଜିର” କୁ “ମୁଜରମ୍ ହାଜିର” ନାମକ ଏକ ଲୋକପ୍ରିୟ ଭାରତୀୟ ଟେଲିଭିଜନ ଧାରାବାହିକରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ରୂପାନ୍ତରିତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା ଯାହା ୧୯୮୮ ମସିହାରେ ଦୂରଦର୍ଶନରେ ପ୍ରସାରିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା, ଯେଉଁଥିରେ ନୂତନ ଏବଂ ଉତ୍ପଳ ଦତ୍ତଙ୍କ ଭଳି ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ଅଭିନେତାମାନେ ଅଭିନୟ କରିଥିଲେ।
“Asami Hazir” (meaning “The Accused is Present” or “At Your Service”) is a renowned Bengali novel by Bimal Mitra, first published in 1973. The novel is known for its deep dive into the social realities of rural Bengal and explores themes of social exploitation, torture, and the complex burden of inherited sin.
The core of the story revolves around a young man who endeavors to atone for the misdeeds and sins committed by his zamindar (landlord) forefathers. It delves into the sacrifices he makes in this pursuit, highlighting the moral and social dilemmas faced by individuals caught between their past and their desire for redemption.
“Asami Hazir” was also adapted into a popular Indian television series called “Mujrim Hazir” which aired on Doordarshan in 1988, starring notable actors like Nutan and Utpal Dutt.
