Anandamath is a Bengali novel by Bankim Chandra Chatterji, published in 1882. It is set during the famine of 1770 in Bengal and depicts the Sannyasi Rebellion against the East India Company. The novel features the famous hymn Vande Mataram, which later became India’s national song.
