ପ୍ରଫେସର ବଂଶୀଧର ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ “ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ଇତିହାସ ଅଂଶ ତୃତୀୟ” ତାଙ୍କର ବିସ୍ତୃତ “ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ଇତିହାସ” ସିରିଜର ତୃତୀୟ ଖଣ୍ଡ। ଏହି ବିଶେଷ ଅଂଶଟି ମୁଖ୍ୟତଃ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ପଞ୍ଚସଖା ଯୁଗ ଉପରେ କେନ୍ଦ୍ରିତ। ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ପଞ୍ଚସଖା ଭାବରେ ଜଣାଶୁଣା ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ପାଞ୍ଚ ପ୍ରମୁଖ ବୈଷ୍ଣବ କବିଙ୍କ ଧର୍ମ ଏବଂ ସାହିତ୍ୟିକ ଅବଦାନର ବିସ୍ତୃତ ଆଲୋଚନା ପ୍ରଦାନ କରେ। ଏହା ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ବୈଷ୍ଣବ ଧର୍ମର ଉତ୍ପତ୍ତି ଏବଂ ବିକାଶ ବିଷୟରେ ଖୋଳତାଡ଼ କରେ ଏବଂ ପଞ୍ଚସଖା ପୂର୍ବ ସମୟର ପ୍ରାଚୀନ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରେ। ପ୍ରଫେସର ମହାନ୍ତି ପଞ୍ଚସଖା ସାହିତ୍ୟର ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ, ଯଦିଓ ପ୍ରାୟତଃ କମ୍ ପ୍ରଚାରିତ, ଐତିହ୍ୟ ଉପରେ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱ ଦେଇ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ବ୍ୟାପକ ଭାବରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହୋଇନଥିବା ନୂତନ ସୂଚନାକୁ ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରନ୍ତି।। ଏହା ଧର୍ମଶାସ୍ତ୍ରୀୟ ଆଲୋଚନାରେ ଏକ କେନ୍ଦ୍ରୀୟ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ ଭାବରେ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱ ଏବଂ ଏହି ସମୟରେ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଥିବା ବିଶାଳ ସାଧୁ ସାହିତ୍ୟକୁ ଉଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳ କରିଥାଏ, ଯାହାକୁ ପ୍ରଫେସର ମହାନ୍ତି ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରନ୍ତି ଯେ ଆଧୁନିକ ଭାରତୀୟ ଭାଷାରେ ଏହା ଅତୁଳନୀୟ।
