ପ୍ରଫେସର ବଂଶୀଧର ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ “ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ଇତିହାସ ଭାଗ-୧” ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ଇତିହାସ ଉପରେ ଏକ ମୂଳଦୁଆ କୃତି। କଟକର ଫ୍ରେଣ୍ଡସ୍ ପବ୍ଲିଶର୍ସ ଦ୍ୱାରା ପ୍ରକାଶିତ, ଏହି ପ୍ରଥମ ଖଣ୍ଡ ମୁଖ୍ୟତଃ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ସାରଳା ଦାସ-ପୂର୍ବ ସମୟ ଉପରେ କେନ୍ଦ୍ରିତ, ଯାହାକୁ ପ୍ରାୟତଃ “ପ୍ରାକ୍ ସାରଳା ସାହିତ୍ୟ” କୁହାଯାଏ।ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟ ବିକାଶର ପ୍ରାରମ୍ଭିକ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟାୟର ଏକ ବିଶ୍ଳେଷଣାତ୍ମକ ଏବଂ ସମାଲୋଚନାମୂଳକ ଅଧ୍ୟୟନ। ପ୍ରଫେସର ମହାନ୍ତି, ଜଣେ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସମାଲୋଚକ ଭାବରେ, ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ପ୍ରବର୍ତ୍ତକ ଭାବରେ ବିବେଚିତ ସରଳା ଦାସଙ୍କ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଅବଦାନ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଭାଷାର ଉତ୍ପତ୍ତି ଏବଂ ବିବର୍ତ୍ତନ ଏବଂ ଏହାର ସାହିତ୍ୟିକ ଅଭିବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ବିଷୟରେ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରନ୍ତି।ଏହା ଏକ ବହୁ-ଖଣ୍ଡ ଧାରାବାହିକର ଅଂଶ ଯାହା ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ଏକ ବ୍ୟାପକ ଇତିହାସ ପ୍ରଦାନ କରିବା ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟରେ ରହିଛି, ପରବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ଖଣ୍ଡଗୁଡ଼ିକ ସାରଳା ଯୁଗ ଏବଂ ପଞ୍ଚସଖା ଯୁଗ ଭଳି ସମୟକାଳକୁ ଆବୃତ କରିଥାଏ। ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ବ୍ୟାପକ ଐତିହାସିକ ସଂକଳନର ଅଭାବକୁ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ରଖି, ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକୁ ଏହି କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ଏକ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଅବଦାନ ଭାବରେ ବିବେଚନା କରାଯାଏ।
“Odia Sahityara Itihasa Part-1” by Prof. Bansidhar Mohanty is a foundational work on the history of Odia literature. Published by Friends Publishers in Cuttack, this first volume focuses primarily on the pre-Sarala Das period of Odia literature, often referred to as “Prak Sarala Sahitya.”The book is an analytical and critical study of the earliest phases of Odia literary development. Prof. Mohanty, being a notable Odia critic, delves into the origins and evolution of the language and its literary expressions before the significant contributions of Sarala Das, who is considered a pioneer of Odia literature.It’s part of a multi-volume series aiming to ovide a comprehensive history of Odia literature, with subsequent volumes covering periods like the Sarala Yuga and Panchasakha Yuga. Given the lack of extensive, comprehensive historical compilations of Odia literature, Mohanty’s work is considered a significant contribution to the field.
