ରେଣୁ ସରନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ “ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ସଂଗ୍ରାମ ୧୮୫୭”, ଯାହାକୁ “୧୮୫୭ର ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ସଂଗ୍ରାମ” ଭାବରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଜଣାଶୁଣା, ଏହା ଏକ ପୁସ୍ତକ ଯାହା ଭାରତରେ ୧୮୫୭ର ଐତିହାସିକ ଘଟଣାବଳୀ ଉପରେ ଆଲୋକପାତ କରେ। ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ପାରମ୍ପରିକ ଭାରତୀୟ ଜାତୀୟତାବାଦୀ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିକୋଣକୁ ଉପସ୍ଥାପନ କରେ, ଯାହା ଏହି ଘଟଣାକୁ ପୃଥକ ବିଦ୍ରୋହର ଏକ ଶୃଙ୍ଖଳା ଭାବରେ ନୁହେଁ, ବରଂ ବ୍ରିଟିଶ ଶାସନରୁ ମୁକ୍ତି ହାସଲ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ରଖାଯାଇଥିବା “ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତାର ପ୍ରଥମ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ” ଭାବରେ ଦେଖେ।ଏହା ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ କରେ ଯେ ବ୍ରିଟିଶ ଦଖଲ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଦୀର୍ଘ ସମୟ ଧରି ଦମନ କରାଯାଇଥିବା ଜାତୀୟତାବାଦୀ ଭାବନା ଏହି ସମୟ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ହିଂସାରେ ପରିଣତ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ପୁସ୍ତକଟି ଯୁକ୍ତି କରେ ଯେ ଏହି ବିଦ୍ରୋହ ଏକ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ମୋଡ଼ ଥିଲା, ଯାହା ବ୍ରିଟିଶମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅନୁଭବ କରାଇଥିଲା ଯେ ନିରନ୍ତର ସତର୍କତା ଏବଂ ଆହୁରି ବିଦ୍ରୋହର ଭୟ ବିନା ଭାରତକୁ ବଜାୟ ରଖାଯାଇପାରିବ ନାହିଁ, ଏକ ଭୟ ଯାହା ୧୯୪୭ରେ ଭାରତ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ପାଇବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଜାରି ରହିଥିଲା।ରେଣୁ ସରନ ଏହି ପୁସ୍ତକଟି କନ୍ନଡ, ଆସାମୀ, ତାମିଲ, ତେଲୁଗୁ ଏବଂ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସମେତ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଭାରତୀୟ ଭାଷାରେ ଲେଖିଛନ୍ତି, ଯାହା ଭାରତୀୟ ଇତିହାସର ଏହି ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସମୟସୀମାରେ ଆଗ୍ରହୀ ଏକ ବ୍ୟାପକ ଦର୍ଶକଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଏହାକୁ ସୁଗମ କରିଥାଏ।
